Elermore Vale is a suburb on the western outskirts
of Newcastle, New South Wales.
Before becoming a residential suburb in the
1900s, the area of Elermore Vale was used for
chicken farming, cattle farming, and coal mining.
By the 1960s, the school and the other facilities of
the suburb had been established.
Elermore Vale is served by Newcastle Buses and
Ferries bus routes 222, 224 and 226.
Macquarie College is on Lake Road, Elermore
Vale. One of Newcastle's leading private schools, it
provides quality co-education, K-12, in a Christian
environment.
The Shaft Tavern in Elermore Vale is the starting
and finishing point for the annual Shaft Shuffle Fun
Run, organized by the Elermore Vale Lions.
